Soccer mom | Sexy American Idle

The phrase soccer mom broadly refers to a middle-class suburban woman who spends a significant amount of her time transporting her school-age children to their sporting events or other activities. Indices of American magazines and newspapers show relatively little usage of the term until a 1995 Denver city council election. It came into widespread use during the 1996 United States presidential election.
The phrase has taken on a negative aspect. Soccer moms are sometimes accused of forcing their children to go to too many after-school activities; overparenting them in concerted cultivation rather than letting them enjoy their childhood. In 2003, the car manufacturer Nissan, who had for several years courted the "soccer-mom" image, repositioned its Quest minivan as "stylish, sexy and desirable".

Carolyn Murphy | Sexy Models

Her career began when at the age of 16, her mother enrolled her in a modeling school. Soon, she was modeling locally in Florida, as well as abroad in Japan and Paris. After graduating from Choctawhatchee High School in 1991, Murphy went to New York.
Murphy enrolled at the University of Virginia, while modeling part-time. Mario Testino shot her for French Vogue, Missoni, Et Vous, and Gucci. In 1994 she was hired for Prada and appeared in major magazines like Harpers Bazaar and Vogue. Anna Wintour had Steven Meisel shoot her for American Vogue in 1995 and he began to use her for campaigns like Dolce Gabbana, Max Mara, and Calvin Klein.
In 1998, she was named VH1/Vogue's "Model of the Year". Barry Levinson chose her for the role of "Dubbie" in his film Liberty Heights. In 1999, she was cited by Vogue as the "Model of the Millennium" and considered a muse by Calvin Klein, landing a contract for the perfume "Contradiction" with fellow Liberty Heights costar, Justin Chambers. She was offered roles in "Pearl Harbor" and many others to follow. Also in 1998, during a photo shoot for Elle magazine, the photographer noticed her resemblance to the actress Gene Tierney and Elle dubbed Murphy "The blonde Gene Tierney".
In 2001, Estee Lauder signed Murphy to an exclusive contract. Her first advertising campaign for the brand’s “Defining Beauty” began appearing in 2002. She continues to appear in the advertisements today, recently posing for Estee Lauder’s new fragrance, Sensuous. She shot campaigns for Missoni, Versace and Tiffany & Co. Next Top Model Light cycles

Light cycles are fictional vehicles designed by Syd Mead for the simulated world of the Tron universe. These futuristic two-wheeled vehicles resemble motorcycles and create walls of colored light. The vehicles were primarily used in a competition between humanoid computer programs, similar to an old computer game sometimes known as "Surround" or "Dominos" (games which predate Tron). Players are in constant motion on a playfield, creating a wall of light behind them as they move. If players hit a wall, they are out of the game; the last player in the game wins. Since the original display in Tron, there have been numerous adaptations, as well as references in popular culture.

A light cycle toy, in red and yellow versions, was produced by TOMY as part of the merchandising for the Tron film, along with action figures scaled to fit inside the toy cycles. Bootleg versions of TOMY's design were produced by other toy manufacturers that came in a wide variety of colors, including blue and silver, but were noticeably smaller than the TOMY-produced toy, too small in fact to accommodate one of the TOMY action figures.

In Kingdom Hearts II, Sora is forced to play the light cycle game with the Heartless to save Tron.

Light cycles make a return in Tron Legacy, with new designs by Daniel Simon. According to the press conference at Comic-Con 2009, a new vehicle appears called a "Light Runner," a two-seat version of the light cycle. It is said to be very fast, and has the unique ability to go off the grid on its own power. We also get a glimpse at Kevin Flynn's own cycle, a "Second Generation Light Cycle" designed in 1989 by Flynn and “rumor has it it's still the fastest thing on the grid.” It incorporates some of the look of both films.

The tie-in video game Tron: Evolution, which is set between the events of Tron and Tron: Legacy, features light cycles in sections of the single-player mode and in certain game maps for the multiplayer mode. Light cycle use in multiplayer gives players the option to shift back and forth between cycle and foot travel at will, and provides multiple attack and defensive options beyond the classic "boxing in" of an opponent. In addition, the light cycles of Evolution can pass through their own light trails (and the trails of allied players) unharmed.

A more classic interpretation of the lightcycle game is shown in the Wii-Game Tron Evolution: Batte Grids, which is primarily based on offline multiplayer or singleplayer matches. The lightcycle battles (one disceplene besides others like hyperball, grid tanks and lightrunners) don't allow the player to drive through his own trail, however if you play on a team, you can drive through the trails of your teammates, but still not through your own. These lightcycle battles take place only on the bikes, there is no possibility to change between the bike and running around on foot, which underlines the fact that this is a more classic version of the lightcycle game.

Best dressed at the SAG Awards

As awards season kicks into high gear, so do the celebrities, pulling out all the stops on the red carpet in the build-up to what is considered Hollywood's most glamorous night - the Academy Awards.
Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards paved the way, providing Hollywood's elite the opportunity to put their most fashionable foot forward. Stars of the big and small screen went for the "wow" factor, dressing in diverse showstoppers, displaying personal style, as well as highlighting some of the hottest upcoming trends. For the most part, solids and bright colors (including hot pink and red) were in vogue, while trends for hair and jewelry reflected a move towards more classic styles.
Felix Mercado, celebrity style expert and president and owner of Say It With STYLE, discussed what trends were on display, as well as which stars shined the brightest and who fizzled instead of sizzled.
"Lace made a big return," Mercado said. "We saw lace gowns with just a hint of edge as well as one-sleeve and strapless dresses in jewel tones, red, pink and white.Unfortunately, I felt the SAG Awards were more like the SAD Awards, with very few 'OMG' moments until Sophia Vergara and Hillary Swank stepped out. Overall, everyone looked good. Let's hope they're saving their fierce fashions for the Oscars."
 Stars Who Wore Lace:
-January Jones in Carolina Herrera
-Archie Punjabi in David Meister
-Dianna Agron in vintage Chanel
-Nicole Kidman in Nina Ricci

Plunging Necklines:
-Christina Hendricks
-Eva Longoria
-Lea Michele

Jewel Tones:
-Sofia Vergara
-Cara Buono

Red Dresses:
-Julianna Margulies
-Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen
-Tina Fey

Here are Mercado's picks for best and worst dressed of the night:

Best Dressed:

-Hilary Swank in Versace. "Her one-shoulder nude chiffon gown with crystal detailing was stunning."

-Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta. "My second favorite next to Hilary Swank. Lea's look was flawless."

-Archie Punjabi in David Meister. "Two words - absolutely fabulous!"

-Kyra Sedgwick. "Very flattering and age appropriate."

-Mariska Hargitay. "This is the best she's ever looked."

-Dianna Agron. "I loved the tea length Chanel Haute Couture dress. I thought the color was stunning but wished she dressed it up with the accessories. Black is so predictable for junior fashionistas."

-Sofia Vergara was "absolutely stunning in royal blue. She can do no wrong. Move over Eva Longoria, there is a new Latina in Tinseltown!"

-Amber Riley looked "stunning" in a black one-shoulder gown.

Julianna Margulies' strapless red dress was "absolutely stunning."

Worst Dressed:

-Nicole Kidman in Nina Ricci.

-Winona Ryder "looked like she was in a prom dress gone bad."

-Eva Longoria. "The dress was ill-fitted and waistline was too low. The 'toga dress' was not flattering at all."

-Hailee Steinfeld in Prada. "She looked as though she got into a fight with a box of crayons and lost - or, better yet, a bad Halloween costume."

-Jennifer Lawrence in not-so-hot pink Oscar de la Renta. "I felt the belt competed with the shoulder straps and the black was too hard against the pink. I would have preferred no belt, the slit not so high and different-colored accessories."

-Kim Kardashian. "The Grecian style gown was way off the mark. There were so many things wrong with her I don't know where to begin. Poor Kim - looks likes she's so busy with her reality shows, fragrance line and boutiques that she didn't have time to find a more flattering gown. Why was she there again?"

-Angie Harmon in Monique Lhuillier "looked like she got into a fight with Big Bird."

-Helena Bonham Carter looked "somewhat sophisticated in black and white, but not good enough to make it off my worst dressed list."
