    Remember they said, they cannot hire H1B. They can be contractors on H1B.

    More than anything else, this will promote outsourcing. Many of these banks have branches all over the world. They will move entire divisions to more business friendly countries.

    Ultimately Americans will lose these jobs for good.

    How to use QuicK Masks....

    Select the layer with your image.....

    Underneith the Foreground and Background colors in the Tools Toolbar there will be two rectangles, one on the left that is a white rectangle with a white circle inside... this is to stop using quick mask... on the right there is a dark rectangle with a white circle inside, this is to entery quick mask mode.

    Click the one to enter quick mask mode.

    Use the paint brush tool (best at a small size and used with the softer brushes), With the brush, fill in the area that you DO NOT want to be selected (in this case, your body)

    Now hit the button to exit the quick mask and the area surrounding the spot you colored it will be selected. Now you can just delete this and be left with your head :)

    I do see your point regarding the cap. But, this bill may help EB3 by:

    1. Removing the "US masters" from EB3 line. No one knows the exact numbers; but, I am sure there are some "US masters" guys in EB3 line.

    2. Not counting dependents for the cap. Again no one knows the number of dependents; but, I read somewhere average is about one dependent per primary applicant - it may speed up the process by 100%.

    As to your point about increasing the numbers - it will have positive affect if it happens (I am not sure if there is any provision in the current bill to increase the number of GC's). Per country cap is percentage of the total number of visas - if the total number increases, so will the cap.

    Other provisions that are not part of S1092 and may help EB3 (especially India and China) if added are:

    1. Increasing the number of GC visas (part of STRIVE)
    2. Increasing the per country cap
    3. Backdating the "Not counting dependent" rule (part of STRIVE)



    well, educate me here.
    even with the current numbers the system suggests that the cut off dates have not moved at all in months and months........ I think increasing the numbers wont really do much for us.
    I think our relief is not in the numbers.....
    I think our relief is only in removing the caps. EAD regardless of cutoff dates and 485 filing without cutoff date is the only true relief left for us.

    The public info is available only if your case(PERM labor) has been approved. If it is still pending, your employer will have to create an account for you. Most employers won't do that.

    maybe you are right, but if the bill passes as it is then what will happen to all current consultants? I have a advanced US degree and is working as a consultant. I don't want to but I have to ....unfotunately. The new law says that a company cannot place H1B consultants on client site. Which means you cannot be a consultant on h1b status. I can offcourse switch over to an big american conulting company(have an offer too) with a h1 transfer but still there will be no difference if CIR passes in its current form. what do you guys think???

    It is raining now. After seeing the visa bulletin, it depresses my mind terribly in this gloomy weather.

    Two month movement is not enough. Per my calculation, it should move at least five months per month. There is some part in the picture, which I don't see.

    Counting from today, May 1, 2002 is almost 4 years and 5 month apart. It means it takes at least 4 and half years plus the third stage processing time whatever it may be.

    Four and half years is just too long in this modern world. You go through changes in your personal life, family, and work situations in four and half years. You develop your new talent and equipped with new skills. Sitting in a same job without promotion for over four and half years is just too long. As our current job is the life line that is linked to our spot in the que, we tend to panic over minor matters at work and it is hard to defend ourselves. When your whole family is depending on it, it is more so. Professionals with bright minds like us cannot be kept stagnant and status quo for such a long time. It is same as killing.

    Well, I cannot go back to my home country. I have invested everything I have in this country. I have developed skills that better fit to U.S. I don't fit to my home country any more. I can contribute much better to American economy. My kid even cannot speak the language from my home country. My child is so young that she doesn't know that she does not have even a social security number. (All of my family are in legal status. Never illegal in a single day. For children, they can have SSN only after issuance of GC. ) Nevertheless, my kid is 100% American in her substance.

    I understand it is taking so long because of the gap in supply and demand. And I also understand that we are imposed of various restrictions in our life before getting the green card. However, just a little more flexibility will save so many people and rescue them from their tremendous daily pain. For example, if they could allow us to change our job in the same category after first stage and then allow us to change our job without restriction after I-140 approval and be able to process the application in continuance without causing any break. I think the method in U.K. and Canada are close to this and causing less restriction to stick to one employer or the same kind of employer. The current U.S. system is just feeding immigration lawyers because many of us have to do the process over and over again from the beginning with a different employer.

    Two month is not just good enough and it is raining.


    Well Said..Everyone of us are in the same boat..

    I agree that software jobs in INDIA are more in number compared to Canada. Ofcourse India as our HOME country, we will be closer to friends and family. But work culture in India not really great compared to USA/Canada/west. I worked in almost 5 countries and only in India it is expected to work most of the weekends and long nights. I know a lot of people whose salary in Canada (particularly Alberta/Toronto) getting around $85 USD. So it is up to the person to choose between India/USA/Canada

    That will always be there. At the end of the you have to accept India
    has 1 billion plus population. Therefore per capital opportunities will always be limited.
    All entrance exams etc are actually tests of elemination
    where in the west they are used as tests of selction.

    US economy is around 12 Trillion $ where Indian eocnomy is around
    1 Trillion $

    US population 300 million.
    India 1 billion.

    I have inteacted with Microsoft Chinese engineers in Shanghai (MSDN support) . Life is tough there as well with very long hours ( by the way
    work wise they are more sincere/better than us. It is just their english that
    holds them back in the IT services sector...not to mention they have more suitable time difference with US)
