Outlook is very very grim without a bill from what I understand. EB3 India is going to be in a hole and EB3 PDs that are 2006 and later have a really long wait time ahead that they are not imagining. We are all hopeful by nature and look forward to visa bulletins with a positive attitude but such PD folks may be disappointed month after month for several years. For EB2 India it is important to know number of ported cases. EB3ROW folks also need to worry now. Their journey may not be that smooth due to spillover rules and high demand. We need to get data via FOIA to make a better guesstimate. Without such data we will hear various theories, predictions and interpretations from various websites and blogs that may not be always true.

What will the numbers reveal? I had been a regular blogger at IV, but I stopped coming up here because.
1. All talk and no Walk
2. New members come aboard, are rude and offer no pragmatic approach.
3. All these bloggers give ideas and critique each other.
4. What happened to the March1 09st rally in DC?
Why has IV not taken a pragmatic approach, don't take me wrong I respect what you have done and other approaches in the past. But IV is using same approach for a new problem, the end result-----Failure
I joined this community after july fiasco, and have kept close watch on dates, everyday members keep suggesting something or the other. I don't mind being a donor to IV or contributing little what I have, But I need to see some big movement and results.

What makes people think that USCIS has preadjudicated cases in the order of priority date. If they have preadjudicated cases from 2005,2006 and left the cases from 2003 -2004 then it is the same mess an d i can bet that knowing USCIS chance of this are very very high so even if your date gets current it is still luck whether you get GC ornot.

Each country is allocated 7% (of 140K) GCs with almost equal distribution for EB-1, EB-2 and EB-3 plus any unused visas from other countries. Each country gets approximately 9800 GCs (~4K families).
The Ombudsman estimates submission of 500K-750K (yes 500K) AOS applications between June 1 and August 17 2007. Most of these applications will be from India and China.
According to Ombudsman's 2007 report, there were ~1M AOS applications pending as of March’07.
So far EAD renewal has been taking ?? months. With the additional applications it will take ?? months and we will have to apply for renewal after ?? months.
The security check backlog appears likely to get worse, if a new immigration bill is enacted as millions of undocumented immigrants would also apply for legalization.
If you were unmarried at the time of filing, you will need to continue on current status (e.g. H-1B) otherwise you cannot bring your spouse.

So virtually you have three options: a) Struggle for several years b) Leave the USA c) Join us.
Legislative Efforts
EB Immigration reforms do not find enough support on the senate floors (Failure of SKIL, STEM etc Bills). As a matter of fact, it does not even get enough support to make it debatable, let alone final voting on the bills.

Applicants have to wait for their green cards for as many as 4-7 years, depending on the country where they were born. With retrogression, applicants are unable to complete their final phase of green card even if they have cleared all the previous hurdles. We, a group of volunteers at www.immigrationvoice.org (http://www.immigrationvoice.org) . We have set up a non profit organization to work towards resolution of these problems.
In the past we have seen that due to a lack of professional representation, employment based immigration issues have been ignored by the lawmakers. The latest example has been dropping of section 8001 & 8002 from the Budget Reconciliation Bill passed by the congress in December 2005. With comprehensive immigration reforms on the anvil in the early part of 2006, the time to act is now. However, with the current political scenario and the overpowering debate about illegal immigration, this is going to be an uphill battle. We have already initiated talks with professional strategists who have in the past been able to achieve goals similar to the ones we are working for. We feel that these are the following ways a professional strategist can help:
1. Identify feasible goals that can be achieved and are representative of the people in this forum. We should not have to piggy back on H1s or illegal immigration - we need an identity of our own
2. Identify the champions amongst the lawmakers, alliances, organizations who are willing to shoulder some or all of the responsibility in passing provisions to solve retrogression & address labor backlogs centers.
3. Identify opportunities to meet/interact with those mentioned in point no 2.
4. Help us in putting our points across cohesively and in a way relevant to the political situations
5. Keep a close monitor on the progress and the situation so as to identify the opportunities as they arrive.
Hiring professional strategists requires several thousands of dollars. If we hope to counter some of the anti immigration propaganda, we have to accumulate funds to the tune of atleast about $100k. Keeping this and the short deadline in mind, we would urge you to contribute at http://www.immigrationvoice.org . To lead by example, the volunteers have themselves come forward with contributions - in one night we had a collection of around $5000 from 20 contributors. This is a tiny fraction of what we as an organization need.

everyone loves their money....but think if nothing will change how much of your loved money you will spend every year to renew EAD and AP...just do the calculations and you will think that it is worth to part some of our loved money..
No offense Nik..but dude my company actually pays for it..so no loss..in renewing EAD..but unfortunatly my EAD is not yet approved..so I am not yet there.....SAD

I am surprised...why IV is not raising this.. The fundamental issues of EB immigration wont' be solved until CIR happens and that could take forever. No one cares about immigration right now.. The only thing that can provide immediate relief for EB immigrants is if we express our desire to buy houses(unable to do so becoz of lack of GC).

i am not sure why you think kavya wont excel in her life - she already has a great headstart with close to 40grand in winnings! i also dont know why you think she will end up working for a non-ivy league educated manager - & even then why its a bad thing to win a spelling bee..too many gaps or leaps in thoughts/logic?!
If you come across and experience families who make their kids to go through the labor (hell) then and then only you would understand what he is trying to say. The other way of experiencing is to watch the pattern and construct of these spelling bees carefully and apply your own thinking process. Once you do this you would almost agree what logiclife was trying to throw to us.Spelling Bee competition, though make a child well aware about the roots of the words (latin, Greek roots) and provide enough exposure to the kid to understand the English language in its essence, it does not teach a kid how to think, how to become creative and innovative.
Of course nobody can generalize that particular winninng kid will/may/won't/may not do good in life but more or less these are not the competitions through which parents with reasoning or thinking ability would let their children go. Yes there are some advantages but if you try to enlist then list of disadvantages would become lengthier..

You are correct. The rules must have changed recently. I wonder what made them make that change, Now children of US citizens (who were once Indian citizens) have an advantage over children who has both parents as Indian citizens. Weird.. isn't it?

I watched the entire fiinal. Apart from kavya my favorites were Kyle Mou and Tim ruiter. This was Kyle's last chance, but I hope Tim wins next year.
Just thinking aloud : Out of 11 finalist 8 were kids of immigrant parents (7 of them indian). is it just co-incidence ?
I hope after watching this, americans should now have no doubts that imiigrants are here not because they work for less but because they are good at what they do and they are hard working people.
This whole spelling bee thing is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. By any standards, it is pure and simple torture to subject the kids to memorizing thousands of words and their stupid spellings. And what use is that? Have they never heard of something called SPELL-CHECK in Microsoft Word and other email services ?
Or are they afraid that their kid will go to a job interview and someone might ask them to spell the word that no one on the planet ever uses and is only present in the Oxford Dictionary.
Those who subject their kids to such a regimented, rigorous, scripted childhood are preparing a next generation of work-force that would only know how to follow the orders and accept directions.
85 % of the fortune 500 CEOs are not MBAs. And the other 15% that have an MBA, only 3 of the 15 have done MBA from an IVY LEAGUE school.
What that tells you is that too much education and scholarly childhood increases your job security, in that sense that you will never be unemployed, but it decreases the chances that you will be on the top or you will be a billionaire.
The biggest prize goes NOT TO people who can follow directions and know everything, but who can GIVE directions and get things done.

As long as you had an I-140 approved earlier and 180 days crossed after the RD of I-485, you are safe to move on to a new job using AC21 portability. Even if your ex-employer withdraws the support for the approved I-140, your I-485 would not denied and it would be considered on its own merits.

Apparently in Colorado they verify with some Federal database which should have your I-94 in place. So if the Feds goof up somewhere they expect you to go down to Denver to sort it out.

Seems as though every time there is a funding drive there are always people who come with questions that have been answered so many times before. It almost seems that these inflammatory posts are deliberate. All the answers to such questions are already on the forums and it takes less time to search than to post.
