My EAD is set to expire Oct 8th 2008.
So I applied for renewal on Jun 16th via USPS express overnight mail to Texas.
I live in Pennsylvania so had to post it to TEXAS.
USCIS already cashed the check and sent me a receipt notice!
Seriously that was ultra fast.
Since they recently announced about 2 year EADs which will be issued from Jun 30 onwards, I am concerned that the fact that they cashed the check so fast, do you think they will also give me a EAD fast, that too before Jun 30th ? Was there a bill to create this category or this was decision taken by the USCIS.
Its a good move, I know that this initiative was started by an Officer from US Army whose interpreter was getting death threats for helping the US. When he saw that it was not an isolated incidence he started lobbying the state department to create a separate category. I have been following that story for a couple of months, but was not aware that a bill was passed to create a new category or visas. (i am sure, that USCIS cannot take a unilateral decision to add more visas or else why would we be begging for recapture bills)

I used the provisions of AC21 and changed jobs in early 2005. FOIA requests will work for your I-140. I-140 is filed by the employer on your behalf and is therefore your paperwork.
It took approximately two and half months to come through.

I thought Obama administration has practically stopped all kinds of enforcement activities. For example mandating e-verify on all employment. Such a move would not punish the undocumented directly, but only the employers. But Obama administration is filing law suit against States who have mandatory e-verify.
Undocumented Immigration can be solved within a week. But no politician or anti-immigrant wants to talk about it.
SIMPLY PUNISH THE EMPLOYERS EMPLOYING UNDOCUMENTED.
Just put some US citizens who hire undocumented in Jail and then nobody will hire undocumented. All undocumented problem will be solved. But nobody wants to enforce laws on US Citizens. But everyone wants to enforce laws on undocumented because they do not see these undocumented as human beings.

"Retrogression" is the word for the rest of the year for EB3 (I). Learn it, Leave it (eat it, sleep it, drink it - whichever way you want it).
How about Dec. 2000 EB3-I for incoming bulletin? Then "Retrogression at will" as we move forward for the rest of the year. Now don't ask me how because anything is possible with (fill in the blanks).

I am into Datawarehousing and BI. Worked in multiple technology such as Oracle BI, Cognos, Informatica. It is frustrating to see my mid-size American Consulting Company charging the client a $180 per hour while I get $85K per annum. I cannot even switch to my client since I have signed a non-compete agreement..... I think direct marketing is the best way to augment your rates....
Well, I like you because you are just a straight shooter. If you are such a straight shooter then let me do some straight talk, so just catch this.
Your American mid-size company or Desi small size or super size company will get $180/hr but you will not get even $50/hr from the same client even when you go direct. So no matter how "highly-skilled" you think you are, your non-compete argument is not good enough for you not to be able directly market yourself, because there are gazillion other companies using BI, Cognos, BO, Informatica, Datastage and every similar crap. You can impress a few people by naming some technologies that maybe hot but they don't mean a &hit if you market them yourself. Here is why. A lot of people blame the lack of GC as a reason to be exploited. That is part of the problem. The other part of the problem is that most hiring managers in large companies get commission from these small, mid-size or large American, Desi or European consulting companies. That's why in most cases they always hire through one of these companies. They will not hire directly because the manager thinks you to be a stingy desi, and if he hires you directly the hiring manager will not see a dime, so why will he hire you directly? This is a big cycle of corruption and everybody is part of it including lawmakers who get contributions from lobbyist/representatives of these small, mid and large size companies. You think lawmakers don't know what is going on? You think client doesn't know that you make 85K when the middle company get $180/hr? You think the big-bosses at the company/client doesn't know that the hiring managers are getting favors from middle companies? You think lawmakers doesn't know that immigrant worker waiting for long delayed GC is bonded to an employer that buys employee retention insurance policy for the employer? They all know it. I just want to make sure that IV not forgotten People that stuck in PBEC. So far as an active member and an active contributor for IV I have to say that I'm dissapointed as far as the way IV addressed PBEC Issued.
Most of disscussion in IV forum seems like focusing on retrogression issue only.
for people that have their case are among 350000 case pending in PBEC the retrogression has no effect at all unless their case clear out before the retrogression get solved.
There are so many of us had been waiting for their labor get approved.
5, 6, 7 year are a long wait.

Freakonomics and IV participation by EB3IFreakonomics
The guys from Freakonomics did an experiment in a Chicago school. They said they will give $50 to all students who will get a B or higher in all their subjects. After some time they have found out that students who were getting a grade in the vicinity of B earlier have improved their grades to B level. But the students who were already well below B, actually went down in the grading; from D to E for example. You can google for the details.
In the GC saga, what we need is a B grade or above.
EB3 Mexico already has a C grade, hence he tries hard to improve himself to a B grade.
EB3I is in D grade. We more or less feel that trying hard is a waste of our time. If we try hard, we might get a C grade (means EB2I folks will get GCs :( :( ). The end result is that we go from D to E. That is what you are really seeing.
PS: despite the above generalization, I am planning to participate in the advocacy days in DC and I have already contributed to the efforts. Because human beings defy logic and what is natural to other life forms on earth.
If we don't stand up for ourselves, no one will do it for us. Mexico continued its advance in today's bulletin but there are just too many people in the queue to get this solved the right way.

Impressive to see that this thread jumped from discussing Rahman Oscar award accomplishment to terrorism.
Anyway, Rahman has come a long way from being unknown composer in his first move 'Roja' to competing in gloabl arena of Academy Awards.
It has to be a movie produced by American production house to compete in wide variety of categories. Competing from foreign country reduces the exposure.
It would be wrong to say that Rahman's talent was showcased in slumdog millionaire coz he has obvioulsy done rich material even before, but this time the timing was perfect and he was at the right time in the right place. I would like to see his doing background score for good hollywood movie. The fusion would be interesting.

Yes but in Canada you will breathe clean air and drink clean water. You will have electricity 24 hrs a day and water 24 hrs a day. You wont find trash on the street and you wont be considered second class citizen if you arent SC/ST/OBC due to reservations. You woint have to give "donations" to get your kid admitted to Class 1. You wont face a system where a simple court case drags to 50 yrs or a case where doctor will not treat if before police does a "Panchnama" if you had an accident. You wont have to bribe everyone from minucipality to police to start a business.
I have driven in and around Toronto for a couple of hours and did not find it much better than driving in Trivandrum/Cochin.
Other points, I can only talk relating to the US and here we go.
