Just now I finished calling and talking to the U.S. Sen. John Cornyn office. his help there was very helpful and appreciated my calling to his office. He further said that when Sen. John Cornyn introduced this bill, at that time many opponents of this bill used to call and they had to be educated to know the value of the skilled ones....plus he further said that if many calls come favoring this bill then certainly Sen. John Cornyn will feel enogh motivated to bring this bill up again in Jan 2007.

Friends! Please shed some light on the rights that an EAD holder has. I am sick of my present company due to their unprofessional attitude. I have EAD since Jan 2005. What I need to do to join some other company? How risky is it to join some other company? For how long a person on EAD be without job? This will be the first time I shall be using my EAD as I am currently on, post 6 years extended for 3 years, h1 with the same company. So would it be better if I don't make use of my EAD and use my h1 instead to join another company?

Generally majority of Illegal immigrants and their supporters will vote for democratic party. So democratic party is trying to pass Dream Bill. But majority of high skilled generally vote for Republicans and when republicans takes over Senate and House with Wide margin then EB reform will be introduced and passed.
At this stage bi partisan immigration bill will cover high skilled immigrants also. Employment situation need to be improved and some compromise bill is needed for passage. There are more important work for congress than spending time to give 500K new green cards.
The approach by IV and other for adding the Visa recapture is correct. Even more money is spent or more numbers are there it will have same result unless some variables change.
Now most congressmen will ask What is the need for Visa Capture or Eb reform now when unemployment is close to 10%. Economy will not have any impact as no one is in a situation to leave the country as you can indefinitely extend your H1b. You can be in decent job and buy a home. Only issue is there are some inconveniences. But what is the problem for country? Even a few thousand leave the country because of this 85k new H1bs added and about 100k new L1s are coming and 140K GCs are issued every year. Apart from there is unlimited potential of outsourcing.
Politically and in number game High skilled are very weak now. So it is a smart move to try to attach with other bills
Why should they not do as much for us? We are all potential voters ;)

I'm a Canuck also waiting for the gc...
It is an honor to have your country thought of as an alternative.
For me, beyond the "it's home" part, there are considerations such as fiscal policy, public policy etc.
Canada is a pretty good place to live.

Fiscally there have been federal surpluses for over a decade. (unlike the rest of the G7) This is important because of the baby boomers retiring and this will cause a lot of fiscal hurting in the next few decades for many countries.
The trade surplus is at it's lowest in 7 years but it is still a surplus.
There is universal health care (wait lists are a serious concern. They'll be fixed eventually).
There is relatively little racial strife. (much inter-racial marriage too.) Not that it doesn't happen, but it is much more fringe and it is frowned upon.
Cities like Vancouver are very cosmopolitan and individuals are exposed to the world outside their comfort zone. Sushi is fantastic there. Living costs are too high too.
There are more political parties so the issues of the day are not subservient to the political dynamic of one party over the other party. Not that politics doesn't get thrown into the mix, but it is not so much the only lens through which public policy is discussed.
Income taxes are high. I believe business taxes and costs are competitive though. There is less relative and absolute poverty than in the US. Schools are financed provincially, not by city, so there is not the problem of really bad schools in really poor districts. University tuition is not free, but not crazy priced either. There are government grants and loans for school expenses.
Canadians are much less romantic about war in general. I think that that is exemplified by the fact that we have Remembrance Day (Like the English and other Commonwealth countries) were the US has Veterans' day. Remembrance Day is to remember all the victims of war. Also, Canada is fighting in Afghanistan but not in Iraq.
There is not a general "immigrants (not us) cause all our problems" attitude. I watched one story where an Albertan company was actively recruiting labourers from Mexico. What a difference.
There are warts in any country. Sgorla above is right that one should check to see what the regulations are w.r.t professionals working in Canada--Definitely Always!!!!

Several people (like me) have been waiting for 6+ years now. For India EB3 PD is still 2001, you are right there is not much hope for people who filed after 2002.
So you are trying to say that, once my I-140 is approved and I-485 is pending for more than 180 days, my sponsoring employer loses the power to revoke my GC and I can provide an employment letter from the new employer for I-485.
Do you guys really think that the congress is really going to increase the yearly quota of the GC for the Employement Categories? To me it seems like this country is becoming more conservative post 9-11 and is isolating themselves from rest of the world. Based on the current situation it can take upto 5 years for someone like me to get a GC and if this situation stays as is then, I wouldn't mind going back to India or Canada or Europe.

He must be living alone, as he can not mingle even with single person on this whole planet.

Many H1B's currently employed by TARP recepients own a house. This amendment would seriously undermine their financial stability, worst case another foreclosure.
Why would throwing out an immigrant out of his house solve this problem?
Its lame to think that such an amendment would solve foreclosure issues. All it would do is feed more to the fire!

I understand that the person should be in USA. That is the reason I am exploring the possibility of not filing I-485 now. My worry is do I have to wait until everybody who apply now get their greencard (which could mean many years before my priority date become current).
It will be advisable to file AOS before Aug 17th since the 2008 VB will be severly retrogressed due to mass filing. since your PD is 2004 you are in better shape than ones who were recently approved. Most likely the VB will be retrogresses in 2008. No body know how much. At that point you earlier PD will benefit you as other, even though they have applied 485 before or with you, have to wait for their number to get current before the application is actually adjucated.
All this is an excellent opportunity to file 485 and get interim benefits such as EAD and AP. i would strongly suggest to shorten the trip and take benefit of this golden chance since no body knows how bad VB will get retrogressed due to this mass filing which will include Labor approval from BEC with very early PD.
