In canada IT jobs are fewer....but other engineering (chemical , mechanical
etc) jobs are there in Alberta (because of Oil Sands boom) but thats a very cold place though.
I did my masters in us university. The indian students in us university are always in tension about H1B visa etc
I recently visited my friends studying at Canada. There I didnt see that tension among the student community
as they get PR by the time they graduate. Yes salaries are lower but cost of living is lesser. Houses are cheaper
and also there I saw that smaller cars are more common (high gas milage). But they can bring theri parents
visa are easy. Also if you sponser immigration for parents (health care is universal...i know there are problems of
backlog).....atleast H1B stress is less...what is life as H1B consultant in US....6 months in one place and then again 6months another place....benching....how long can you live like that. Can you do that with a family?

Anyone can start a fillibuster. Fillibuster is nothing but speaking endlessly on a topic(could be a cooking recipe) when there is a debate with the objective to postpone the final vote(up or down vote) on a bill.
To sustain a fillibuster you need 41 Senators on your side.
The member who wishes to end fillibuster has to propose cloture(ending of further debate and prompting a full chamber to vote up or down). To get cloture you need 60 votes. That is why if the person who fillibusters has 41 supports, the other side would be having 59 which is not enough to end fillibuster.

I am not sure. In August my PD was still current, so if they allocated a visa back then, I should have got the approval earlier.
Interesting, in that case, IO interpreted your PD as something else. Once you get your approval notice, it will state the PD as interpreted by IO.

Yes. Using EAD when going back to work is the easiest option. For some reason, if she want to go back to H1B status, there are ways that can be achieved too.
I don't really know the answer to your second question from top of my head. So she basically payed taxes in IN and reside in IL.
That is correct. She worked and paid taxes in IN while maintaining full resident status for IL. Now the thing is IL pays more UI than Indiana, but the question here is if she needs to file for UI in the state she worked or in the state she maintained her residency?

This is really comforting to know. The only issue I can see here is that we don't know how long will it take for the I-485 receipt to come through. Given the volume of cases that will be filed in July, sending out I-485 receipts may take months and if you have to travel before that, what would you do.
Is the I-485 receipt absolutely necessary for H1/H4 stamping or is that something nice to have?
My husband is currently in England and got his H4 put in his passport last week at the London consulate. We filed AOS at the beginning of May. So he is travelling on his H4. He assures me it was very straightforward. Showed receipts for I485 etc and it went smoothly. NO advanced parole.

From Spring 2009, how difficult would it be to get the "Senior Software Engineer" classified as EB2? This position requires a M.S.
Any thoughts?
Tech jobs requiring an advanced degree and x amount of years experience can be classified as EB2. However there could be an audit for business necessity as the requirements are not "normal" for the job that comes in Job Zone 4. Normal job requirements for job zone 4 are BS + 2-4 yrs experience. It is strange indeed as most IT jobs have now been considered by DOL as requiring only undergrad and 2 yrs of work experience. Even the description given in the O*net classification is ludicrous, given that most people being classified in that job zone do a lot more than what is stated in the requirements.

We shouldn't suffer unnoticed, that's the whole point in doing this excercise. And you are a perfect believer of this thats why you have allready sent emails and letters to Sen. Specter etc.

Stop all these useless ideas and be consistent in our efforts.
On hand we showed peaceful and silent protest by send flowers and on other hand take day off (all of us) and screw our client/employer and vendors, who have trusted us and our ability to perform. I am sorry if I sound rude, but I work at fortune 50 clients and they rely on me, and I am sure many of us work same way.
I am sure we can come up with better ideas, there are so many brilliant folks here but please no bandh, no rally, no flowers again.
All we need is one more out-of-the box idea.
Please help IV and yourself.

Those of you who have been following the facts closely know that USCIS tracks forms and not individuals, it does not have the ability to distinguish between family and EB applicant forms using its form tracker software. The Ombudsman's report, Ombudsman's staff and CIS Information staff have told us that because of this they cannot total up the number of EB I-485 pending.
This evening, as we worked on a fact sheet for QGA and others, Stucklabor and I found this marvelous/terrible number in the 2005 Economic Report of the President, p. 112.
"As of January 2005, there were 271,000 employment-based applications for adjustment of status pending, with about 191,000 of these backlogged by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)"
I'm going to call the Council of Economic Advisers and the CIS Ombudsman's office to find out how they estimated these figures.
In any case, we now have an official figure to throw at media, lawmakers, the world.
Stay tuned for updates to the presentation and brochure that will reflect this data. Those of you who are interacting with lawmakers or media, please take note of this update.

You can not take advantage of bringing your parents (even thinking) because in-laws visas rejected, applicable only to GUYS.
