Lawyers can stretch you to any extend , my idiot lawyer billed me $750(h1)+$500(h4) for copy-paste from 7th year extension to 8th year extension, that is the reason all immigrant lawyers like BEC.
I have some question regarding the H1b Extension, is it in every extension the company still have to pay $1500 (before is $1000) with company check which used toward scholarship for us citizen ?

I am not an expert at immigration laws but a similiar situation happened with my friend. Does not matter if you are fired or laid off. Even if the company sends the letter to USCIS to withdraw the H1 sponsorship your friend is still allowed to stay in USA till his H1 expires. He can work only for the company that transfers his H1, but he can stay till the H1 expires. The law only says that if H1 is transferred within 30 days it will be transferred with no or minimum questions asked. Greater than 30 days; there is no guarantee that H1 will be transferred. However my attorney has done cases even upto 4 to 5 months delay and the H1 has been transferred without any questions or RFI.

With Shiela D, the problem is not hefty money but also an iffy acceptance with the INS. Atleast for mine, no acceptence with INS even after giving Shiela what she wanted! And moreover, a denial of this sort adds yet another fowl feather in your hat!!

As far as I know, I knew one relative who worked on two H1b. He worked the first job on a part time and the second one was full time. He was doing about 8 years back.
I think the rule should be still valid. You should always clarify with a attorney.

I don't think there is a limit on EAD time? SO, not sure how you will end up wasting your EAD time if you apply for an EAD now?
Other than that, it's really your personal choice to apply for EAD or not. Usually, it is a good fall back option in case something happens with the H-1B.

can you still stamp the h1b in canada if you have an extension notice?I have heard people do that in the past not so frequently anymore.i don't know why.
Did you mean H1B extension, I got it stamped last november, my friend got it 5 weeks ago, if anything changed after that, I don't know.

I have already filed my taxes as single in February 2011. I got married late feb. 2011 and now wondering if I can file/re-file as married? My wife is still in India and will arrive here in July. She did not have H4 as of now.

In Feb 2011 you filed taxes for calendar year 2010 - in which you were single. So you can not re-file as 'Married filing jointly' for 2010 tax return. For 2011 - yes you will be able to file 'Married Filing Jointly'

my in-laws came back after eaxct 1 month, with no questions asked and additional 6-month stay. I would recommend that you file for extension of stay if they haven't left already. I have seen it work 100% of times unless you / in-laws have any past history that may negatively impact the decision.

This seems to be a common issue when I140 is revoked by previous employer. I think there was an IV campaign about it 2 years ago and some people benefited from it. Check the archives to see if you can get information. We also have free attorney conference calls. You can talk to the attorney about it in the call. Do you have your own attorney?

I just now called TSC and spoke to IO, nice lady, here is what happened:
I: Wanted to know my status as my PD ( Oct'01 - EB3 - India) is current and RD is also current ( Though I know its going to be current by May 1st)
IO ( Nice Lady): Its pending, thats what I can tell you right now,
I: My RD and PD both are current, is there any thing else you can tell me.
IO: All the cases for 2001 & 2002 are pending for adjudication, and your is one among them. Officers will be making decision on these cases with in 30-90 days. Your case is not yet assigned to any officer. If you want, I can send an email to Officer to look into your file.
I: Is there anything else you can tell me
IO: Thats all I can help you with today.

Andy, There is no perfect employer, so you ought to evaluate on the positives you can seek from this employer. Just like any other Desi company, you will be squeezed and will have to put up with politics, lower salary and moderate benefits (these might be relative and might depend upon your team and manager). But again, it is up to you to prepare for the worst case and give your best in any situation.

Hi I got a job offer from TCS America. Not a great company to work with i guess but given the job market i want to be little conservative.
In the past i heard some bad things about TCS practices and benefits (medical and so). I am not sure if they stay the same or anything has changed. I also heard that they ask for 3 months notice if you choose to leave.
Could please any of you familiar with TCS and their benefits please pass on your comments. I am specially interested to know how professional they are and how their medical insurance work. (I am told the medical insurance is very bad that it doesn't cover much .. is that true?)
Appreciate your help in advance. It is important for me to know these details before i choose this career move.
