Guys
I think IV is ready to take this case with Dept of State. Please raise your voice at the other thread alive right now. Pappu is saying that if couple of people can support they are ready to talk to officials about this.

Unfortunately for oldies like you and me, porting is mostly done by folks with later PDs. So it would still take 6 years for me to get the GC.
you are right for most of the porting cases but this inventory confirms that porting is happening for 2002 onwards.

You should tell the first person that it has been already 90 days. She will connect to the level 2 person. I called yesterday and spoke to a level 2 officer and found out that my name is not in their system. I applied on July 19th also. Dont know what is going on. My colleagues who filed on 26th already received the receipts. Is your 140 approved from NSC?
Yes

I might sound a bit to advanced to the USCIS....but shouldnt they Databases in TSC and NSC be linked so that they do not have to ship cases around based on where 140 was approved...
What are they .....in the 15th century?

I would prefer it if members wrote letters. It's a researched and documented fact that letters carry more weight than E-mails (handwritten even more).
However, if anyone still cannot motivate himself/herself to write one, at least send it through the online form as the last resort
Guys:
Here is an online form for you to send an opinion on the DL

I have a labor sub case. As it was abolished on July 16th. My attorney filed only I 140 on July 10th and could not file I 485 at that time because of July 2nd announcement. Now can he file I 485? Should he be waiting for the reciept of I 140 to file I 485?
Yeah. You can file for I485. Thats what I have to do

Thank you for the post! I think I do need your opinion on my situation. I have approved I140 and in Jan 08 I will complete 6 months after I485 was filed.
Do you see any trouble if I use AC21 after Jan 08?
Personally I faced this problem, employer has the right to revoke the I-140 before approval, also there is a fair chance that he does not respond to RFE which will land u in trouble.
Ideally I suggest you to stop thinking on the idea of not moving before your I-140 clears. Don't say that you cannot survive there, you NEED TO HAVE PATIECENCE, WHICH IS LAGGING IN EVERY HUMAN BEING NOW A DAYS. Also I would say IT IS BETTER TO DEAL WITH KNOWN DEVIL THAN UNKNOWN ANGEL. There is one another say all land look green from distance. So my brother please be patient, you are not gonna earn the whole economy by moving to a new employer. I myself have personally experienced this and also I know both sides of the coin. Every one thinks that these Employers are sucking but they have their own problems. After reading this every one will bang me I know but what I want to say is every one should be patient I mean infact ur employers also.
I understand that you are going through lot of pain, so it be until you clear your I-140. Trust me you will be in good hands once you cross this.
Good Luck
RK.

At the risk of sounding cynical, I am contemplating a scenario, wherein a "compromised" CIR (not addressing the core - but by shades, on the legal/skilled immigration) is hurried through the imposed May 31 deadline..
Would SKIL then be allowed to last it's length (in the event the CIR already carried a flavor of legal immigration)? Are Sen.Brownback's amendments aimed to go alongwith CIR or would they stay as isolated flashes waiting to be attached to any immigration bill?

We had a Conference call with our internal immigration department just few days back (which is very reliable department in company). During concall many ppl. raised same question and reply was exactly same as explained by logiclife.
No need to do anything with GC LC but definitely u need to get updated H1b LC.

My lawyer said he filed July 2nd. (Mailed the application).
He has been my lawyer for the last 6 1/2 years, He is a pretty conservative person and wouldn't do anything harmful or risky.
so I trust his decisions.

I hate to say it this way, but why whine about something that will be more effort and least result.
The way i see it is that you/i/we filed for one year extensions and got 1 year+11 month extension.
So i see it as extra 11 months and not a loss at all. think about your 1 month loss on a one year EAD ......
relax

I filed for 485/765/131 etc on 7/19 via overnight to Nebraska
They received it the next day 7/20
This link (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=21f2d9bbf0cb4110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCR D&vgnextchannel=a9243529fdb7e010VgnVCM1000000ecd190a RCRD) shows that they have issued receipts for on or before 7/24
But I have not received any receipt notice yet.
No checks have been cashed too.
So called USCIS at 1-800-375-5283
Then selected options 1, 2, 2, 6, 2, 2, 1
Someone came online immediately.
That lady was simply reading a script.
She said that if no checks have been cashed, and because of the frontlog, I have to wait atleast 90 days.
After which I can then start an enquiry about why I have not received a receipt notice.
So I am going to wait 90 days.
Hopefully I get the Receipt Notice by then.
I had actually filed for 485/765/131 by post on 7/19/2007.
They received package by post on 7/20/2007.
Got receipts for 485/765/131 on 9/24/2007 (yesterday) by mail.
Receipts start with words LIN which means my case remained in Nebraska.
Receipts say that they received on Sep 19! Fine...!
They appear to have posted on Sep 20.

If your passport has a valid visa stamping, it might be a good idea to travel outside and come back quickly so that the legal status will be counted only from the date you re-enter
I applied for I-485 in July '07 and i was out of status for more than 180 days since my last entry. Is your statement still valid even after applying for I-485 and once I get the I-485 reciept#?.Please suggest if you have any idea.
