Hi Guys,
What does everyone on here think about sending flowers to the Congressional Hispanic Counsel members ONLY and publicize that event like we did last year.
The message is clear. "Please stop ruining our future to save yours." (or something much more refined).
Clearly the CHC is like the "Great Wall of China" right now, when it comes to provisions for Employment based Legal immigrants.
2 Dates come to mind. Labour day and Aug 15th (The Indian Independance Day). I know that IV is not just an Indian organization, but the worst affected category IS Eb3 India and to an extent Eb2 India as well. Besides the flower sending idea also comes from a Bollywood movie.
Ofcourse everyone can participate in this campaign, coz everyone will benefit from the campaign if it is successful not just Indians.
Just a thought.

I totally agree with you in "Chasing the number" part. I think most people have to revise their original target , because it is probably worth nothing considering the prices now in India.
I always marvel at the system, what a great equalizer it is.
After working here for so long you are only as rich or as poor as the average person in India who owned a small piece of land.

I noticed that for EB3 it moved 15 days ahead, from Oct 1,2001 to Oct 15,2001. Anyways, it is nothing compared to the backlog that they have.http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/cut_off_dates.html

The employer is extremely shrewd. They have fraudulent policies and procedures. They said that they are not required to provide me an experience letter. They will take 3 months to provide you with your 1 month salary. They took a sweet 60 days to provide me the last but one paycheck(I called them for that like 100 times). Now, they simply don't send my last paycheck. Please refuse to deal with them at any cost like vermin they are...

Logiclife the guy watered and wiped my finger about 15 times (no exaggeration). He tried all sorts of permutations and combinations, but he did not know how to place the fingers and how much pressure to apply. Trust me fingerprinting should not be SUCH a major task.
Will simple washing of hands right b4 the fingerprinting work just as well?

My understanding is unless the fp are of 'acceptable quality' the computer software won't okay it and it needs to be repeated (in the same very sitting)to make sure there are no smudges/halos/lakes n pools (the girl doing for me repeated each finger occasionally) Soft ware makes them do it.
I think they just missed saving your FP file in their records to analyze it.

I applied via Fedex (TSC) on March 23rd and they approved the case on Apr 4th and mailed it on 7th which I got it on Apr 10th. I couldn't track the case while it was pending but now after approval it is showing on the system online.
Infact my pending AP case status is also being shown in the system so I am guessing they completed their upgrade at TSC which was being implemented by IBM.

Primary applicant CAN use Spouse's country of chargeability to file I-485. OP can file I-485 when his EB-3 PD will be current for EB-3 ROW, after getting married ofcourse.

According to one of your posts, you are well settled in Canada. Now, I must congratulate and commend you for this. (1) For giving up the GC crap (2) For actually finding a JOB in CANADA!!..one that needs more than a highschool Diploma (or even lower).
In all likelihood, you live in Toronto and may be in Calgary or Vancouver. All of which are great cities (Toronto being my personal favourite).
May I ask you, why you spend so much time on this forum. I have nothing against it, nust curiosity. Infact, I like your posts. They are to-the-point and always rationally written..
I just hope and wixh that I could find a career in Canada too.

fail in 2004, 2006. I have an interest in US politics...once you understand that
all the reason for EB reform held up...CIR failing etc are easy to understand.
One needs to understand the immigration politics all the way going back to
1980s.
I looked at the career growth of my friends who stayed back in India and compared to people in US...i finally decided that this has got to end.
Just imagine..you spend 15 years of your life just chasing the GC mirage....
imagine the frustration later on in life.
You are correct : Job market in Canada is very tough (tougher than I imagined).
I knew from US it is bad and that why I planned to do an MBA (I wanted to do an MBA anyway) here. I am doing OK. Economy is not that great either
for tech people looking for shift to Quant side in finance. Canada financial markets are very small...i do plan to work in New york or London or HK. I am not against working in US but not under the desperate terms that most H1Bs from India have to. I am OK with working on TN (i know you can not sponsor for GC on TN..but it is OK)
However in the Tech side (IT) side is see it is easier to get a decent job in
Toronto.
I am involved in this forum since end 2006 or so...but i see so many
people unaware of the political dynamics of why EB reform is held up.
Finance sector is slow now...I am looking for a job change..nowadays I get calls but yet to convert them...I feel bored....once I get to new job I will get silent.
PS: Eventually EB reform will happen when piecemeal comes..I cant exactly say when (but it is always darkest before dawn and a lot of the post July 2007 people will bite the dust)
Why I feel piecemeal will come eventually:
CIR lobby I feel will start having divisions...there are one group of hard core amnesty seekers while others want Dream act etc. All those divisions are now under one umbrella but eventually infighting and breakup is inevitable. There are signs now few days back by Maldef head...

Happy to share the news that I received an email saying that "card production ordered" for 485 yesterday. Technically I got greencard approval, but I have not received the card in mail.
However, here comes tough situation along with the good news. I have tix booked to leave to India tomorrow. I'll be return in 3 weeks. Lawyers suggested to go to Infofass in Boston (nearest to where I live) and get my passport stamped with 551. I checked the appointments and there is none available for today. Is there any emergency appointments. There is no phone number available for InfoPass/Boston.
My AP is valid till this December. So can I use it. Lawyer suggests not as there will be intense scrutiny. Horror stories and happy stories shared by friends about friends who were in similar situation.
Does anyone know about this? What are my options. Please advice asap.
Technically your AP is invalidated the moment your GC was approved. You have to take an infopass appointment and get a I551(check the number) stamp on your passport.
I would recommend that you do not leave the country till you get infopass and have the stamp in your passport.

USCIS ombudsman is coming up with a tele-conference on July 29th for "CIS Ombudsman's 2008 Annual Report: Your Questions and Comments" Tuesday, July 29, 3 pm EST - New 07/14/2008

Apply with your latest w2 and your pay stubs that is the proof you have that you are working with the empolyer who filed your GC and I-140, you will get RFE but the RFE will be easy to reply if you are still working for the same employer. Please ask some learned members from this forum don't take my word as final, good luck.

I dont think the processing date really makes any sense.. I know a friend of mine waiting for his 140 approval though he filed in May 2007. The processing date shows may be the one case they processed in the date shown not all. Hang on tight.. you may get lucky to get your GC aong with 140 approval! :D
The irony is for I140, TSC is way better than NSC in processing speed....TSC is now churning out Dec 2008/Jan 2009 EB3 applications where NSC is still stuck with July/Aug 2007 applications.... If mine was in TSC, I would have got my I140 app cleared by now.:(

I recently renewed our passports and did not find ECNR stamp in the new passport. Our old Passports had the ECNR stamps. I checked with Indian Embassy, according to them ECNR stamp is not required in the new passports as there is electonic reading strip on the passport photo page.
I am not sure, but this was their answer. I will appreciate, if other members who recently renewed their passports will confirm if they have or don't have this ECNR stamp in their passports. Thanks
