I just got a letter in the mail stating that my GC is approved. When would my GC card be mailed ?.
On a thankful note, My experience with Jean Martin has been very good. There was no hickup at any stage. Some of my friends were caught up with their employers who would either slow down the filings to retaing the employee for a longer period or negotiate harder. With such apprehensions I had pursued my GC process. Except for a few administrative delays here and there mine was a smooth sailing. My salary went from 60K 4 years back to over 150K at present. I had referred 3 of my friends so far who just got their I-140 filed.
As far as the "DOL audit", I did not receive any such notifications and 2 more of my friends even got their H1's approved in Feb' 08 !
Forums are being used to just air grieviences, but I think we should also comment org's which do a good job. My 2 cents

I applied for Texas DL and got the DL today , Guess what , the license is vertical ( as issued to under age people ) , its written "Temp Visitor " on it , its valid for 5 years but indicates that H1B exp date on it ,.....
I came across an article some where that a Judge in Tx has stopped issue of such different licenses some time back in May ,,,, But i still got such license . Dont know if thats judges order was over written by some upper court ..
Can any Texas people shed some light on this.....

Finally I decided to quit this pilot program.
There is no such thing to be enlisted as a Linguist. The US has their own Linguist Program and all of the MAVNI enlistees will be assigned or choose MOS based on the ASVAB score. Nobody will be a Linguist via this pilot program (They confirmed this several times)!
Then why they have enlisted the languages in the first creteria, the whole thing cannot be so wrong !!!
(2) For those who have bachelor degree or above, you will be an officer ONLY when you are younger than 29 years old limit. If you are 28 years old in 2009, and you get your citizenship in 2010, then you are no longer eligable to be an officer.
That means they will never ever be officer, and will remain to be be junior for rest of the service, even if they have appropriate qualification.? Can you please quote the origin of this information.
When I was told the truth by this Commender, I was stuned for a while and felt like being cheated. My suggest is that do not believe everything the recruiters say. Ask them to put promises in words by writing. This is an advice that an Navy Attorney offered. Good luck, folks! Citizenship is attractive, but nothing is free ...

The Charge sheet is on Class A Misdem..
This is my first offense.. I have not had any offence at all...
Will being on Probation cause a issue. I spoke to my Immigration lawyer.. he said I will be called for a Interview...
He asked me to tell the Criminal Lawyer to try to get supervision. but he said not to plead guilty...
When I relayed the same to my Crim lawyer,, he said it will be difficult to get Supervision if we plead not guilty...
So does it mean Misdemeanor does not qualify for Deportation?
I am cofused whether to plead guilty or not...

If your I140 is approved you can retain the priority date on a new I140 application

I presume the VISA in your passport is already expired.
IF the visa is expired -->
You have no option than stamping the visa when you travel out...one option would be goto Canada or Mex. If you have no breaks in employment and decent W2s ( honoring prevailing wage) and company is fairly decent you should be okay.
IF the visa is not expired-->
I'm not sure if it can be reissued. It would be good idea to call customer service of Dept of State and see anything can be done inside the US, although the chances are slim.

Mostly this has been for business travel to China/Japan/India/HK (about 4 to 6 times a year), totalling about 14 or 16 times.
In one particularly busy travel year, my AP was stamped on both sides (8 stamps!).
There is no rule that says that AP cannot be used more than once unless otherwise noted on the AP. Read the text in the AP - if it says "This authorization is valid for multiple applications for parole into the United States during the validity of the period noted above", then you are OK to travel multiple times using the AP.

I sympathise with Asian. It can be depressing. Although we chose America by choice but that doenst make it a fair system. Some people talk like we are being paid for doing nothing... we are being paid for contributing our skills to this country save that we also pay taxes and don't enjoy the total benefits from those taxes.
All said, I think we need a more aggressive approach...people dont know what we are going through. Even the so called journalists and politicians. We need a rally, we need to mass mail news media, we need to write all our congress men perhaps simultaneously. We need to be more aggressive. We need strong coordination.

Dear IV members, I would like to share my GC story with u. I have been in the US since 2001 mostly on and off. I wasnt sure whether I want to permanently live in America and thats why I havent even thought about getting a green card before. Last year I made up my mind and applied for an employment based GC. I started my labor on January 1, 2008 (first ad in the local newspaper) and labor was applied in Fabruary. BTW I am EB2 (rest of the world). My Labor was approved in the end of April. Conccurently filed I-140 and I-485 along with AP and EAD in mid May at TSC (RD May 14 and May 20 respectively, FP done June 28 and no LUDs whatsoever after that, was a little upset over that). My birthday was on Aug 19 and what a huge present I had. I still cannot believe my luck. First on Aug 18 EAD approval followed by my I 140 approval on Aug 22 and 2 hours later I received the magic email: I-485 current status: Card production ordered!!!!!!! Unbelievable! I couldnt believe my eyes. I logged in a logged out of the USCIS website 3 times to make sure that it is not a mistake. 3 days before the approval notices I was talking to my parents telling them that I will probably wait for another 1-2 years and then I got it! No RFE no questions whatsoever. After I saw the email I felt such a relief and sense of freedom. Later in the day I spoke with my lawyer and he couldnt believe that the 485 was approved. To be honest with u I didnt even know the whole process of getting a green card (lawyer was taking care of it) before I stumbled on the Immigration Voice website after a google search. I have followed all of the threads for the last 7-8 months here and I find them extremely helpful and a great source of information. Sorry for the long post and I wish you all to get your green cards from the bottom of my heart. My 8 months are nothing compared to some of you who have been waiting for years so my advice is to spend a lot of money on a good lawyer and hope for the best, the rest of it is in God's hands. You are fortunate to be ROW , at least on GC process . We wait whole year waiting to become current and unfortunately we will be current only few months and look at how CIS process the files ..No RD,PD order
You filed in May 2008 and they picked your file and adjusted your status in Aug 2008 , where as we all filed in July 07 and we both are current in August and how can they process your file and ahead of all of us ..who are waiting for years and years ...
CIS should bless us to get a GC ...
