I am the guy who did the "Quit America Movement" Polls to see how many of us really feel they are highly skilled. I was amazed that we really have some talented people here who beleive in themselves. I strongly beleive that talent alone is not enough to acheive your Dream / American Dream, you also need to beleive in what you have and make bold decisions to overcome obstacles.
Now here is my proposal to all those who think you can contribute to this. This is a original idea of mine and I had been thinking about it for more than 3 years. I talked about this to few people and everyone said it was a great idea. I would like to call this proposal as the "Marriage between Television and E Commerce"
The foundation for the proposal is drawn from these few facts.
1)An average american spends more than 3hrs voluntarily in front of the television. The rest of the world's middle class consumer population also spends lot of time in front of the TV
2)TV and Internet technologies can be converged or it is already converging.
3) A picture is worth a thousand words
Now the technology part of the plan is as follows
What if we can broadcast a television program were anything on the TV frame at the any moment can be searched, compared, purchased. e.g Let us assume a simple scene of a couple walking through the park and there is a wedding happening in the backdrop. The park could be a tourist attraction, it could be used for planning small events or weddings, there could be beautiful plants or flowers, the park could have a well done landscaping, etc
Now the technology part and business
What if a person can press a button on the remote to index that scene for later review or just press another button which shows red dots on all the things that has some searchable or marketable content on that page. The viewer will be able to navigate to the item ot part he wants to see details. Let us say he navigates to some beautiful flower and selects to see information. We can use technology to push the information for the flower on his TV screen. Then we can also show the list of companies who sell that in his area and if he wishes he can choose one of them and place an order for that using his remote. With todays technology the viewers credit line can be tied to the addressable cable box by the bank (just like a credit card company issues a credit for a person)
Now how do we create those red dots and information
We can use image recoginition technology to index the points of interest in each frame in a TV program. We can link the object or itmes to a database which has the information about it and the vendors who sell that.
NOW THE COMMERICAL PART
IF THIS CAN BE DONE CABLE TV CAN BE FREE with no commercial or conventional TV ads FOR ALL VIEWERS WHO CAN GET A CREDIT APPROVAL.
The service will be paid for by advertisement ( which are the indexed items in each frame). We can have paid indexing for items like cars, watches, jewels etc. We will charge sellers to add them to the database who sell these itmes and we can get a fee every time they view or buy.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The possibilities are unlimited here. I am sure the money involved would be atleast 100 times more than what google is talking about. Computer search and buy is voluntary and the user community is small. The TV audience is large and for a lot of them it is a family thing so you can reach all age demographics for marketing and selling without pushing ads on them which anyway today people skip.
I call upon all those who think we can do this and want to work on this to make it a reality. In simple words "Unleashing the devil in everyone bedroom" the devil is selling. Gentlemen and ladies if you want to stop going after the GC and do innovate something for our good please vote in this poll a yes or no. We can work the business part and legal part in detail when we form a group and start work. Please comment and send private messages also.
Thanks

Dude stop seeing this world like a programmer. It is not zeros and ones/ black and white.
Programmers see the world in black and white?? That's interesting, I didn't know we were all color-blind or incapable of understanding the greys in thought processes.

Hello everyone. I hope someone can advise me what to do. The quota for H1-B was reached before the attorney sent my petition. I went back to F1 (already was on F1 and got a B.S. in Accounting) that expires in December (attending a GMAT class), hoping for the SKILL bill to be passed. At this point it does not look like it will be passed any time soon. The employer liked my work and is willing to help me if I find a legal way to get a permission to work.
Does anyone have an idea what can be done?
Thanx a lot in advance.
Is CPT an option for you? you can get 1 year CPT plus 1 year OPT on your F1 visa without worrying about your H1B for now and work for your employer. BTW pls try to post in appropriate subject and section threads. This thread was started to discuss a news story and all posts should be within IV Agenda and Legislative Updates subject.

I have lived in OK for 12 years now. I work in Tulsa and commute 140 miles each day. 70 miles takes me only 63 minutes one way at speed limit. Bottom line.....nice place to live and work, less traffic. People are very friendly and decent. Tulsa was recently surveyed as the #1 city in the U.S. for relocation.
If you have a choice between Tulsa and OKC, I'd go for Tulsa. Tulsa is better planned, newer and easy to get around than OKC.
Cons: Tornadoes (not many in the Tulsa area though), not great Indian restaurants, not the most exciting place in the U.S. for sightseeing and touristy things.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello Guys,
My question is, does this bill contain a recapture visa bill? And if this bill moves fast to become law, will it be implemented right away? I hope we don't have to wait another year for the law to be put in to use.
Please advise.
They are just placeholder as of now. Wait for actul text to come. Even it may changed during hearing in sub and full commitee. Also on house floor too.
But as every one is positive, there will be some kind of relief for us. Dont know how. They may scrap EB system ( again not good for us who is in line but may be good for new applicants ) . OR recapture ( good for us and new one ). Most of discussion will be on illegal immigrants as it happend in past two CIR. We need to make sure they dont limit visas for us for shake of illegals.

Lets start new year and new congress and new prez. This is new development from immigration-law.com
Line-Up of House Leaders for 111th Congress With Power to Impact Immigration Legislations
Election of Majority and Minority Leaders:
Majority Leader: Representative Steny H. Hoyer
Minority Leader: Representative John A. Boehner
Election of Majority and Minority Whips: Majority Whip: Representative James E. Clyburn
Minority Whip: Representative Eric Cantor
Election of Chairmen of Key Immigration-Related Standing Committees:
Committee on Education and Labor: Representative George Miller (CA)
Committee on Homeland Security: Representative Thompson (MS
Committee on the Judiciary: Representative Conyers
Committee on Oversight and Government Reform: Representative Towns
Committee on Science and Technology: Representative Gordon (TN)
Also S-9 was introduced yesterday with floor speech.
S. 9 Bill Text:
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Stronger Economy, Stronger Borders Act of 2009''.
SEC. 2. SENSE OF CONGRESS.
It is the sense of Congress that Congress should enact, and the President should sign, legislation to strengthen the economy, recognize the heritage of the United States as a nation of immigrants, and amend the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 et seq.) by--
(1) providing more effective border and employment enforcement;
(2) preventing illegal immigration; and
(3) reforming and rationalizing avenues for legal immigration.
Senator Leahy Supporting Statement on the Senate Floor: .
Mr. Presdient, as we begin the 111th Congress, we will try, once again, to enact comprehensive immigration reforms that have eluded us in the past several years. With an administration that understands the critical necessity of meaningful reform and that understands the policy failures of the last 8 years, I am hopeful that the new Congress can finally enact legislation consistent with our history as a nation of immigrants. The majority leader has included immigration reform as among the legislative priorities for the new Congress. I look forward to working with him, Senator Kennedy, Senator McCain, and others interested in working toward the goal of immigration reform.
In 2006 and 2007, Congress attempted to pass practical and effective reforms to our immigration system. In 2006, the Senate did its part and passed legislation, only to be thwarted by those in the House of Representatives who opposed dealing with the issue in a meaningful way. In 2007, the House passed legislation only to have it blocked in the Senate by Republican Members opposed to effective reform. If our immigration policies are to be effective and play a role in restoring America's image around the world, we must reject the failed policies of the last 8 years. We cannot continue to deny asylum seekers because they have been forced at the point of a gun to provide assistance to those engaged in terrorist acts. We cannot continue to label as terrorist organizations those who have stood by the United States in armed conflict. We must not tolerate the tragic and needless death of a person in our custody for lack of basic medical care. We must ensure that children are not needlessly separated from their parents and that family unity is respected. We must move beyond the current policy that is focused on detaining and deporting those undocumented workers who have been abused and exploited by American employers but does nothing to change an environment that remains ripe for these abuses. We must protect the rights and opportunities of American workers and, at the same time, ensure that our Nation's farmers and employers have the help they need. We should improve the opportunities and make more efficient the processes for those who seek to come to America with the goal of becoming new Americans, whether to invest in our communities and create jobs, to be reunited with loved ones, or to seek freedom and opportunity and a better life. We must also live up to the goal of family reunification in our immigration policy and join at least 19 other nations that provide immigration equality to same-sex partners of different nationalities. And I believe we would be wise to reconsider the effectiveness and cost of a wall along our southern border, which has adversely affected the fragile environment and vibrant cross-border culture of an entire region. Such a wall stands as a symbol of fear and intolerance. This is not what America is about and we can do better. Those who oppose a realistic solution to address the estimated millions of people currently living and working in the United States without proper documentation have offered no alternative solution other than harsh penalties and more enforcement. The policies of the last 8 years, which have served only to appease the most extreme ideologues, must be replaced with sensible solutions. I am confident that our country and our economy will be far more secure when those who are currently living in the shadows of our society are recognized and provided the means to become lawful residents, if not a path to citizenship. As President-elect Obama's administration considers immigration issues, I look forward to working closely with them and with the Senate's leadership to find the best solutions. President-elect Obama's nominees to lead the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Labor understand very well the importance of sensible border policies and the importance of workers' rights. The American people look to all of us to forge a consensus for immigration reform that rejects the extreme ideology that has attended this issue and prevented real progress.

My understanding is when FP is done they take all fingers of one particular hand once and then individual fingers later for the same hand.
The Match (%) is for match between all the fingers taken at once and then individually.
And they need to Match 50-60% or more, and thats why retries are done when Match is not found or is a low percent match. For Fingers that match the prior finger print (for full hand) comes up with Match Found! not an error but indicator for the person doing the FP to move ahead with other fingers.
It has nothing to do with any database at that point of time.
Keep it up

Let me put it this way,
I am in a better position if I quit 1 day after GC approval to move to a job in my line of work than if I quit 1 year later and move to a different line like starting a grocery store or restaurant. If changing jobs is an issue at naturalization (we have no evidence of that), then the former case has better credibility than the latter - though I waited longer.

smahwal,
Looks like you are in good shape to get approved soon. Did you do anything specific to resolve the situation like opening an SR, infopass etc.
I have been noticing soft LUDs on my EAD and 485. The EAD was issued about 2 months ago and I have had 2 soft luds on that and on the 485 in the last week.
Any ideas on what that means?

I have been throught the same phase, except that my wife entered US. If you are seeking additional 600$, it would have been wise filing through tax consultant. As one of the guy above pointed out, I believe you can not file if your wife has not entered US. It only costs around $100 to consult an attourney. I do not understand you asking your wife to fill entry dates. Is it the date she is going to enter US Or that you have just given a date? Providing misinformation might get you into trouble. Any ways, as you have already filed, good luck.
There was no date entered in those fields. They were filled in with n/a. Anyway I'm going to wait and see what they respond back with. If they come back and say tough luck then I guess no choice but to file single.
