With Limited visa numbers and now USCIS has improve efficiency they will process more and mroe Eb2 ROW and Eb1 application and less spill over to Eb2 India / China.
May be Eb2 india and China will clear 6 months in a given year.

Tell me them that even though you are not from the same constituent, the Congressmen will be voting on these bills once tabled in the Congress and you are requesting to support the bill
I called congressman Hinjosa's office.
The staffer asked me where I am calling from. Then said you are not a constituent of the congressman and was not willing to transfer to the person who handles immigration issues. I insisted on leaving a message and he took the message, but was surprised, did anybody else encounter this? How do we handle this if it happens with other congressmen?

This may not make sense in either direction. July filers are still waiting whereas my check to USCIS got encashed and it seems my ND wud be Oct 8th. My 485 reached TSC on 14th Aug but as per the Receipting Update TSC is still processing applications with RD of 13th Aug !!

I am happy to report that within the first 4 days of this campaign we have already hit a potential fundraising total of $3,500!!!
We need to keep this campaign moving forward, we need IVians to support this cause! Our goal by end of Year 1 is $45,000!!! We need your support to make this initiative a success.
Lets get IV's name out on the national stage by showing our presence at these events. Imagine the impact we will have when they see Team IV walker/runners in Immigration Voice T Shirts at the finish line of all the three walking/running events we have picked and at several other local events as well.

I just called them now. I was lucky enough to talk to the operator. She said I should be getting it in a week. I guess they have a back log. She couldn't tell me anything else. BTW my application was received on Sep 11th. Money order was cashed on Sep 23rd. Still in process not shipped yet. I called 713-626-2148 and pressed 1 then 9 and when it asked for voice mail or operator I pressed 0 for operator. I kept pressing 0 until someone answered.
And I just got my passport. :)

Can you give me some reasons why visas are unused and a percentage.
In other words, why would someone go through all the paperwork and then not get the visa?
He meant that 140k Visa numbers allocated each year, out of which less number Visas are actually processed by CIS, all the unused visa numbers in the past which might be more than 300k should be used now to reduce the backlog.

GCPerm, Saralayar, spicy_guy, freedom_fighter and others ........ dedicate your time (30 or 60 minutes everyday) on green card backlog issues. Help us all in this process.
Things are not as easy as it seems......Writing letters alone does not solve problems - and reading pappu's post - monthly trips to DC, meeting with (dont know who all), raising funds, having lobbyists -- all of these are things that take up time. IV has already said that it cannot take it on unless they achieve the primary goal of clearing backlogs.
Think about it, gcperm is the only guy who has met with Schumer's office. That's it. Even he has no idea on how many more senate offices he has to meet....... Or how deals are cut to get any legislation considered............. I read the Citizenship doc - nothing in it is viable - everything in it only shows the total lack of knowledge regarding laws.
US in never going to adopt point based system - for green card or citizenship. Every other recommendation past 4 relates to point based system - so chuck them out. As for recommending the form and the fee for it - and actually putting the price on it - again shows the lack of thought.
The third and most important one, you are asking for these benefits for employment based category - things never work that way. Every group of immigrants will ask the same benefits or if they cannot get it, they will fight tooth and nail so that no nobody else gets it too.
Congratulations for getting your green cards. Stay and help out the members who are yet to get their green cards. IV am sure would take on the issue of citizenship once it has achieved its primary goal.....

That is for the 2008 stimulus. They were going to do the same in 2009, but it was reversed at the last minute. I am sorry I could not get the 2008 stimulus overturned. The best we were able to do was the HEART Act, which only helps those who are active military. However, the 2009 stimulus is available for everyone. This time it is not a one time payment, but you will see a small increase in your monthly paycheck.

It will be a fallacy to think anything will be done for legal immigrants because Republicans will take over the house. ....
(I am not talking about CIR. I think it is a given that CIR is not going anywhere in the near future). But, I am an optimist!

Well his bills were mainly an attempt to stem H1b visa abuse. Maybe there is too much overkill, but look at his point of view. What would you do if you suddenly felt 10s of 1000s were misusing the H1b visa and entering the country. We also need to talk to them more and convey our position clearly, irrespective of party.
one necessary part of getting GC relief, is to help them in avoiding abuse of work visas, which will ruin our reputation and make the visa abusers semi-illegal.
There are issues like impractical time for H1 transfer that need to be fixed. 1-2 weeks to find a job is impossible most of the time.
I also edited my first post with much better statistics and new things I learnt in this debate, which will help newbies.
