Based on past experience i feel that people will cling to a false hope and make assumptions about getting their GC's. My primary concern is people will stop making efforts to push for recapture or any other relief. The spillover rules are such that EB3-I will not get any additional visas till 2012 (at the earliest). Who knows what the stituation will be then.
We should also be debating why the PD for Mexico EB3 is higher than India when they have more people in the queue before their PD. I would take the numbers with a grain of salt or at the least not forget the past... as someone said if we dont learn from our history, history will repeat itself.

The moment a home comes underwater or nearing it, refinancing is not possible.

People form India must be knowing - it is reverse over there. Here due to borrower protection i have protection of $25,000. So while buying, things are not that bad. if I add $17,000 with borrower protection of $25,000 (in case of problem), it turns out to be $40,000 odd. This is what I mean by system or business process providing support for buying. After putting all money in home, this $40,000 is still there.
Not having GC/Citizenship is a real hinderance, because one is fully part of US system as long as he/she is working. The moment job or status is gone, he/she is not part of system is US (becomes illegal). Buying is in this context a very high risk activity specially because trends are downward - there is no time to react.

Honestly I don't even see a point for these discussions, polls or predictions for EB3-I. The sooner we accept we are doomed the better. The only way out is to help ourselves but I don't think many EB3's are willing to do that.
I spoke to several in my office with earlier EB3 PD's (who might not even get GC's in the next 5-10 years !) and of course with EAD's and they have literally substituted EAD for a GC. They were once a part of IV (and some similar org's ?!) but now have completely lost hope and don't care. I tried to motivate them to join IV and support but they feel that IV does not cater to EB3's anymore. Sadly they are not even trying to port to EB2. They are just content with a job and EAD.
So, I am not really sure how many of us are actually willing to fight ?!
In fact it's even worse for people like me who are still waiting to file their I-485. Is it going to take us 5,10 or 20 years just to get an EAD ?!

With re-capture EB2 will be current and all the spillover/accross/up/down will go to EB3
and next year sept Eb3 will move 3-4 years.
I do not know much but IV core might be in a good position to answer about how we can
get our provisions piecemeal.
Unless if the law changes so that all these years of wait count towards citizenship, I sincerely think the wait is useless and its totally unfair.

This may not make sense in either direction. July filers are still waiting whereas my check to USCIS got encashed and it seems my ND wud be Oct 8th. My 485 reached TSC on 14th Aug but as per the Receipting Update TSC is still processing applications with RD of 13th Aug !!

This is good and healthhy discussion except for few who dont want to think beyond today's goal.
As someone has listed already few advantages of citizenship.
I would like to add that GC give you freedom in terms of the Emplyment and Residing in US. But it also has very strict criteria how you live in this country. You are no free with getting GC. Giving some points
You need to carry your GC all times with you.
You can be deported out of country if you dont report you forget to report your address changes.
You can be deported out of country for very small crimes such as DWI, shplifting etc.
Most of the states and federal govt dont emplyee non-citizens.
Several goverment benefits are not available to non-citizens
You can not be out of country for more than 6 months. And also not multiple time.
You need to able to prove that you ahve permanent ties to this country all the time you travel outside. (irrespective of time frame)
I am sure some other members can add lot to these points.
So in nut shell GC and Citizenship are totally different.
GC will just give you freedom from your employer. I am sure in long run you will also realize that your that freedom does not help you too much. May be a little bit if you are with consultant or IT field.
There is no harm in thinking ahead and thinking about citizenship. Those who will be satified with GC, does not need to worry about this discussion as they are no more interested in this future benefit.
Also there are lots of reasons that can be listed, why law makers will be interested in the advancing Citizenship benefit for HIGHLY SKILLED IMMIGRANT who is in the country for long time, has contributed to the Federal Taxes for five years, has good skills in STEM areas and has to suffer in comparision to Family based or marriage based applicants in terms of Citizenship. You can see recent advance of OPT for STEM graduates as small justifification for such hope.
So lets continue this discussion, and comeup with good demand list and supporting justification , in terms of Citizenship benefit for highly skilled immigrants who get GC based on emplpoyment.

I wonder how much power these committees have. It is clear from her letter that DOS/DHS chose not to respond to her or send her any info and defy her request to continue accepting AOS applications until she had a chance to review the matter closely. Committee has the subpoena power to force the document release and hold hearing but if DOS/DHS ignore her letter again, I wonder what would she do.
I guess the deadline is tomorrow so we'll see how this unfolds.

I don't think your 10th grade certificate will work. The birth certificate should be given by the Muncipality and it should indicate the date your birth was registered, your name, DOB, Father and mother name.
If you don't have this kind of certificate, you need to submit a non availability certificate with two affidavits.

Can you explain how does Nasdaq mini or S&P futures differ from stock. My understanding is that technicals are same behind any asset class.
If you could share your charts and explain your strategy, it will be a great help to all of us.

So now this thread has turned into a sob story of how a handful of misused EB1 visas are bad for the whole group (i am a screwed up low level EB3, i am not in competing with EB1's or 2 or 4's for that matter) ...we just need some bad guys to pin the blame on. We are loosing sight of the big picture here. We can either complain or cry or do nothing, to each his/her own. write a letter to the authorities. they will take 5 years to investigate and 10 more visas will be available to for redistribution to Eb2 from EB1, meanwhile we will create a new thread everymonth and complain how messed up the system is and how screwed up we are...:p.

I completely agree. Tell me how are we acting differently than the Americans blaming the foreigners for bad economy? Look at the bigger picture before pointing fingers at each other. BTW, I am not an EB-1; I am just an EB-3 :)
