i have sent my application last friday.
Any idea how many months its taking nowaday for complete process - whatever it is its much better than what we have here.

LOL.....I see where this is headed. We will all post on these threads and whine and complain, just like we do with the visa bulletin. And then in about a week's time, it will all die and no one will bother about this memo. We will "accept" whatever is offered to us. But I am sure within the next week, you can see 10 different threads with people talking about stuff such as "Gandhigiri", "Flower" campaign, "Hunger Strike", "Lawsuit", "Email Campaign", "Letter Campaign", "Phone Campaign", etc.....Don't worry, nothing will materialize and all these will die down. We as Immigrants have learned to accept everything and never fight back :)

Hello,
I have filled I-140 in last week of March 2008. My priority date(the day I file labor) is 15-Sep-2007. My labor got approved.
My I-140 is under EB2 India.
Today I checked status of my I-140 on https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do
It says :
Application Type: I140, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER
Current Status: REQUEST FOR INITIAL EVIDENCE SENT, CASE PLACED ON HOLD
On July 25, 2008, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Your statement completely misleads and not true.
SL Tamils are not immigrants but are the native sons of northern part of the present geographical area known as Sri Lanka. REALLY? Is it a coincidence that a desi company owner will usually have 99% of his emploees Indian? Thinking that employment depends only on skills is not realistic. A lot of the networking based on national origin interferes with how at least H1 jobs are landed here. So there is a reason to have rules preventing a monopoly.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a job offer before getting there. In fact I would suggest take your time to relax/look for jobs/business opportunities when you get there. You will be a PR and will have plenty of opportunities if you are not in a field requiring a license. In fact, the best part about being a PR is the doors it opens. Consider whatever interests you and makes good money!

I am finally moving to canada in 2-3 months. Deadline for landing is March 3rd 2007.

look man wether anyone likes it or not fact is that jobs are going to two countries with a billion dollar plus population ... they are hardworking and they are verrrrrrrryyyyy hungry.... so even if you stop immigrants alltogether from coming to this country .. it does not matter. The jobs will simply go there (to China and India). After all the companies exist to serve their shareholders and not their employees and the simplest way to maximize profit is to cut cost. Simple!!! the outsourcing offshoring train has just started and there is no stopping it.
You may argue to some extent that the complexity of your job will provide your protection but the fact is management is always scared off complex functions that require expensive resources (i.e human beings) .. management will always want to break down your job to lowest common denominator so that it can be shipped or done at lower cost. For that they will be willing to go all the way - including changing technology , buying into marketing BS or spending millions of dollars.
Also if the american market dies is that going to be a very big deal ? not anymore .. the domestic market of both India and China is getting bigger everyday .. the fire has been lit and the horse has been left out of the stable .. its at a point of no return.
So brace for the change because the times are a changing...

I wish India allows absentee ballot.
The way things are right now, as NRIs, we can't even register ourselves in the electoral rolls even if we want to plan a trip to India to conincide with election time.
You can register to vote as long as you have a permanent address in India, which is pretty much anyone except a US citizen. Voting itself is inconvenient as you have to travel to your constituency for that.

Surely appreciate your great service. Please help if you can. My advance parole got approved and sent by mail on Aug 13. I havent received it yet. It should not take this long..... It seems like it got missed in the mail. Can I do anything about it..............
I called the USCIS cust. rep. They said, the only thing I could do is to re-file it again. How far is this correct.....

All I'm saying is, there's good and bad everywhere, and Canada, always rates highly.
Like you however, I'm here because I like it here. Frankly, after Canada, the weather in California is too hard to give up :)
In the end, as you say, it's all objective.
And who rates Canada highly? That requires a different forum for debating but I am just giving you the hint that it is international scam to rate it high.. That is the subject of politics and we would not start debating that at least on this forum..
