maybe it is because of the Easter holiday and the long weekend. that can be a reason or maybe it will pick up at the beg of April. I am not sure what s the reason, but we are all worried
Looks like approvals has slowed down further.
This is why at the end of the year there are unused visas. All due to inefficiencies of USCIS.
We are doomed.

I have enjoyed your amusing ranting. Call me anything you like. That will not not solve any problem. I am not a leader but a person of average intelligence capable of understanding the implication of the re-interpretation of the spill over rule on EB2. If you have the time, please read the comments of EB3worker. It would be better if we work unitedly towards visa recapture instead of trying to envy one group. The common goal is working towards Visa recapture. The forum cannot be hijacked by any group EB1/EB2/EB3.

No, your contributions are not tax deductible, we are a 501(c)(4) non profit.
Even though our organization helps a large number of people, since lobbying might be upto 100% of our expenses, we're not considered as a charitable organization. Read more about this at the IRS website. So we're applying for 501(c)(4) status instead of 501(c)(3) status. Hence no contributions to Immigration Voice are not tax deductible.

And whats wrong with having 90% non-immigrants in ur workforce?
These companies(even desi consulting) do play an important business role in consulting and economy at large. Only thing we have to worry about is that they dont exploit or abuse the workers which can easily solved by making h1b portable. By restricting to 10% or 20%, these 20% are going to be more exploited because there will be hundreds of desis and non-immigrants waiting to take that 20 jobs that now available and companies will exploit them.
If you want to see the effects of protectionist bill like these, one only needs to look at manufacturing sector. US gov. and unions protected its local manufacturing workers, wages went up and eventually the whole sector went to China and other countries. Its happening with automobile sector now. Let's hope software industry is not next.
This is actually a very good idea. Maybe not 10% even 25% is fine.
This way microsoft, oracle etc. can get their workers.
Even Deloitte, PWC they hire americans and pay you when you're on bench.
Unlike most indian consulting companies, which don't pay you when you're on bench and make you lie on your resume.

I agree. Based on my 10+ years experience in the IT industry I saw only Indian IT folks strive to deliver the task as agreed. Be it by working later hours, weekends, holidays. They dont get paid for all their hardwork. It it not done for job security purpose just as commitment. I see my own team members sacrificing lot of personal obligations for the work and show their dedication. Not all Indians enjoy.
where do you make your observations man????????? your observation are totally incorrect. I have seen so many indians who are putting so many extra hours without any extra pay.. we dont follow clock buddy.....go and look some other places where indian works...

Folks, sorry I have not been in much action, with other stuff taking priority, but I would definitely like to know what it takes to do this? I have completely lost fitness due to bad lifestyle, long commutes to work, working spouse, small baby, and other tensions and I like this idea a lot.
Nolaindian - can you briefly explain how this marathon works? Does every city have a marathon to which we register, is it a community? Who sponsers? Do we do it as IV? Do we all form a group. Are the rules set by us? Do we pledge????
I can definitely start off with a short one - until I pick up on fitness :) Tri state members are more than welcome to join me :)
Hi Chanduv23,
I really appreciate your support and interest in Team IV.
The basic concept of Team IV is to raise either $300 or $500 in 1 years time starting when you join Team IV and the year ends on January 18, 2009.
There are two Memberships Types to join Team IV; Individual and Family Membership: The Individual Membership costs $50/yr and Family is $75/yr.
Team IV Members will get a T Shirt, Welcome Package with more details and fundraising tips. The premise of the fundraising is that your friends and relatives will support your goal to walk/run one of the three Team IV events in the year and thus will make donations to Immigration Voice (by check) to help you reach your goal of either $300 or $500.
The Three Team IV events we have chosen are:
1. San Francisco Golden Gate Park 5K on August 17, 2008. A 5K is 3.12 miles and can be walked in 45 mins.
2. The Washington DC Army 10 Miler on October 5 2008
3. The Houston Marathon (26.2 miles), or Half Marathon (13.1 miles) or 5K on Jan 18, 2009.
You can do all events, as Santb1975 and myself will, but you are required to do only 1 of these 3. If you have a family membership, we encourage all family members to participate, however, we require only 1 to complete at least 1 event.
If you absolutely cannot make it to one of the above events, you can still join Team IV and participate at local events in your hometown. I can assist you with finding such events. We will try to include your local event in our schedule the following year.
What would really benefit IV is to show our strenght by numbers; meaning if we have several IV members in IV T Shirts walking/running as a group, we are going to get noticed even more, and this is how we can good press for IV.
The goal is to raise money to support IV's long term lobbying efforts and to support a not for profit org that fights childhood obesity in the US. This is in keeping with our fitness goal, and it is a quality of life issue, not only for IV, or for Team IV members, but for the country we have chosen to make our homes in.
Our goal is to have 150 Members and raise at least $45,000!
I hope you can join us. If you have any questions/concerns, please PM me and we can connect by phone to discuss.
Thanks,
NolaIndian

Hi I received from Chinese friend whose has some connections with lobbiests. Nonetheless, that is only for Murray amendment, but not for the HR bills. So please don't stop calling just because of it.
Yes, please keep calling.
The Murray Amendment is only on the Senate side which reportedly has been dropped from the Senate version of Appropriations Bill. What we are campaigning are for the separate stand-alone bills in the House which when passed will go to the Senate.
I am sure that our provision on the Senate side supposedly died because of the AgJobs which gave ammunition to the anti-immigrants to drop all immigration related measures from the Appropriations Bill. Some of us who have been thru this roller-coaster ride before, kinda saw this coming.
Again, please keep calling for the house side relief to our problems.
Thanks.

Well, I would suggest them to hire a very good lawyer to plead their case as an honest mistake and hope that USCIS acknowledges it and approves her H4....

Hi Folks,
My PD got current at today's Visa Bulletin. Presently I live in SF City, California but we are in the process of move from California to Texas. We will be finally move to TX during Sept-2007. My questions are:
1. Can we move from CA to TX after I-485/EAD/AP is filed from California?
Since you are moving before six months of your filing of 485, your parallegal said the right thing. Its possible but its risky. The way it works is if there is no RFE on your case in the 180 days following your filing, you can then invoke AC21 to support your move. It doesnt matter at that point of time that you moved earlier. Now, if a RFE is raised and your company is ready to handle it - you should be good to go. Past experiences on the forum have been that in the first 180 days, it is very rare to get a RFE and considering we would be having lots of filing in the next month, the chances are even slimmer.
2. We do have a PO address is Texas now and have an apartment in CA for next 5 months.
Do you recommend to use the Texas PO Box address instead of California Apartment address for USCIS I-485 application such that we can avoid the Change of Address with USCIS later?
My personal opinion is that using a PO box address may not be allowed. But its my opinion. A lawyer would be the best person to advise you on this.
3. What are RISKS of moving from state to state during I-485 process? Did anyone do that in this forum?
Answered in Point 1
Please advise - thanks
Hope this helps.

Advocating without the added support of the lobbyists does not work in favor of us...
Defenitely we also need a powerful lobby. Illegals probably have the best lobby out there hampering our efforts.
I can understand their motivation, as they're basically getting thousands of dollars free for jumping the border, and they want to take it further.
We legals have paid taxes and contributed more than we earn and are weary of seeing this.
Another small suggestion - could we also add compensation for members who have face to face meeting with lawmakers? This may be some small motivation for them. Funds from adds could be diverted to give preference to direct meeting on a large scale.
We don't have millions to influence public opinion, but have enough for 500 lawmakers.
Illegals don't need motivation because they're stealing, begging for other free stuff.
exclude me, I don't want anything.
